A day in the kankurwa or kankurua, a sacred site. by

About your tour
In the early afternoon, we meet in Valledupar to drive to the Kankura, which is located in the Kankuamo reservation about 45 minutes away. During our journey, we will see tropical dry forest, the Guatapur river, and the south-eastern part of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
As soon as we reach the shelter, we perform a ritual of cleaning and harmonizing inside the sacred site. A Kankurwa and a river cleansing ritual are performed when we welcome people.
After that, we'll talk about the place. A sacred site relies heavily on the word and shared experiences for its spiritual nourishment. Afterwards, we will walk through the sacred site, visit the orchard, and meet others.
Following dinner, we will enjoy a chinchorro lulled by birds and the stream as we eat a typical dish of the community.
Evening - We deepen a theme that people are interested in talking about late at night to apply to everyone. After midnight, we talk about things we hope for and possiibilities, positive spirits come to us after midnight. Our dreams are filled with spirits speaking to us in chinchorros. The spirits complement what we forget. With tea from the plants of the garden, coffee from which we produce or some drinks of artisanal alcohol based on sugar cane that we ourselves make with aromatic plants.
Upon awakening, we eat corn breakfast, grind corn, make arepas and head back to Valledupar by 8-9am.
